Getting started

Which B2R level should you start with?

Runner's legs climbing stone steps

Every runner starts at Level 1, whatever your experience. The only real choice is whether to buy Level 1 on its own or take the complete bundle and save $19.99 on the two later levels.

Level 1 is the foundation, not the beginner option

The B2R Training System is built as a progression. Level 1 develops foundational foot and core-balance strength with the Slant Wobble Board and the balance poles. Levels 2 and 3 build on that base with the stability disks. The order matters because the harder sequences in Levels 2 and 3 use the board and poles you learned to control in Level 1.

That is why the rule is the same for a first-time runner and a marathoner: start at Level 1. Fitness does not skip the foundation. A strong runner with feet that have never done this kind of work still has the same first job.

The short version: if you have never used the B2R board, you start at Level 1. If you plan to work through all three levels, the complete bundle is the same equipment plus every video, for $19.99 less than buying the two bundles separately.

What Level 1 includes

  • B2R Slant Wobble Board. An angled, unstable surface that makes the arch and ankle work on every exercise.
  • Balance poles. Support while you load the board, so you can hold positions safely and focus on form.
  • Equipment bag.
  • Level 1 video. In-depth instruction, an extensive library of exercises and a Run Form section that makes proper technique simple to understand.

Reviewers have been blunt about the difficulty. BirthdayShoes called the exercises "seriously challenging" and said the results in stability "were incredible". Gear Mashers wrote that the board is "much more challenging to balance on than it looks". Expect Level 1 to be real work.

When to move to Levels 2 and 3

Move on when the Level 1 sequences feel controlled: you can hold the positions on the board without wobbling through them and your form matches the Run Form instruction. There is no fixed number of weeks. The video program is built so you can repeat sessions until they are clean.

Levels 2 and 3 add two stability disks and two more videos. The exercises continue to advance foot strength and develop overall leg strength and power for better muscle equilibrium. They are configured into workouts that challenge runners at every level.

Buy Level 1 alone, or the complete bundle?

Option Equipment Training Price
Level 1 bundle Board, poles, bag Level 1 video $84.99
Level 2 and 3 bundle Two stability disks Level 2 and Level 3 videos $89.99
Complete bundle Board, poles, bag, two disks All three videos $154.99, which saves $19.99

If you know you will progress, the complete bundle is the better buy. If you want to prove the method to yourself first, start with the Level 1 bundle and add Levels 2 and 3 later.

The European bundle

The European Level 1 bundle is Level 1 without the balance poles: the board, the bag and the Level 1 video for $69.99. Choose it if you already own poles or prefer to train without them.

Getting started FAQ

I am an experienced runner. Can I skip Level 1?

No. Level 1 is where the board and poles are introduced, and the Level 2 and 3 sequences assume you can already control them. Experienced runners often find Level 1 harder than expected.

How much space do I need?

A firm floor with room to stand and hold the poles. The board and disks pack into the equipment bag.

How do I get the videos?

Access arrives by email after checkout, so you can start the day your equipment lands.

Can I buy Levels 2 and 3 without owning Level 1?

You can, but the Level 2 and 3 workouts use the board and poles from Level 1. Without them you will not be able to follow the program.

The bottom line

Start at Level 1. Buy the complete bundle if you already know you will work through the whole system, or buy Level 1 alone and add the disks when your sessions are clean. Either way, the first job is the same.
